Shutter
After a tragic car accident, a photographer starts to notice unusual shadows in all the pictures he takes.
One of the best ghost stories I’ve ever seen.
This is a ghost story from Thailand that is genuinely well written, well acted, and is downright scary. Avoid the GARBAGE American remake at all costs. They ruined everything that made this so special.
Two things always freak me out: bugs and ghosts. Bugs because they are disgusting and ghosts because how do you fight a ghost? They always win, those lousy incorporeal cheaters.
The scares in this varied from subtle to, “OH MY GOD! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?” which I shouted more than once.
Beyond that, though, was the story. A very sad tale of a couple trying to deal with the horror of what was happening to them.
I’ve seen a few message boards where some people complained about certain aspects of the film not realizing that maybe, just maybe, things are different in different cultures. I don’t want to say because I don’t want to spoil the movie, but there are some uncomfortable moments that may not make sense to American audiences. This doesn’t mean the characters were dumb or did dumb things; they did things differently because they live in a different country.
Overall, this is a great horror/mystery movie, regardless of where is came from. On top of that, it has one of the best endings I’ve ever seen.
The ending is fabulous beyond belief. Truly frightening movie. And yes, the Americanized version is crap lol.
what do you think of blood and shadow warrior from 3d realms?
