Grace
A pregnant woman has an accident that kills her child at 8 months, but she insists on bringing the baby to term. When the baby is born, it is undead.
Zombies have been done to, well, death lately, so Grace was a breath of fresh air. The baby in the film isn’t your typical “Brains!” zombie. It is actually more along the lines of a regular baby that does zombie-like things. For example, instead of drinking her mother’s breast milk, it bites into her breasts and drinks her blood.
This is not a nice movie. Bad, uncomfortable things happen. Some of the characters in the film, the mother-in-law for example, are awful people. It delves into some things that genuinely will make you squirm in your seat.
The pacing is slow but not boring (although I have heard more than a few people complaining that they were bored). For such an unusual film, the slow pace seemed to work. I don’t mind a slower-paced film as long as it is always going somewhere. Some films plod along and never really do anything.
The effects were good, but you only see the baby in full zombie mode a few times. It works better this way because it would wear thin if you were looking at it all the time. Mostly, you hear it crying, while it is constantly surrounded by flies.
This is an odd film that builds up to a very unexpected ending that you will either love or hate. I loved it because it fit in with the bizarre tone of the rest of the film. Definitely one of the most unique ones I’ve seen.
I was so uncomfortable watching this I couldn’t finish it. I thought it was well done but maybe due to having a new born at home but yeah had to stop it after Grace was born. Really liked that it was something new and different
It gets even more uncomfortable as it goes on. I could see it being a doozy for parents.
there is a nother grease film staring john travolta
No there isn’t.
I never saw this movie. But I did see the I’ts Alive(2008) remake that came out around the same time…It was OK. I have actually chosen not to watch this move(Grace) because it looked very similar and came out around the same time. Are they basically the same movie or are there differences that warrant a viewing of Grace?
Completely different, well worth a viewing.
