Drive Angry
Not exactly a horror movie per se, but an action film with horror elements. Still, I’m going to allow it since it is so much damn fun.
Nicholas Cage escapes from Hell to kill the cult leader who has tricked his daughter into joining his ranks so he can sacrifice her unborn child. Meanwhile, Hell’s accountant, the always great William Fichtner, heads to Earth to bring Cage back. A young girl, the lovely Amber Heard, joins Cage to help him get his daughter.
This is one of those movies I can’t believe exists, but I’m glad it does. It has the feel of a 70s exploitation film with the visuals of today. If this movie came out back then, it would have been adored.
Everything in this movie is dialed to 11. Cage is clearly having a blast, and aside from some bad CGI during a car chase, the movie looks great. The story moves along at a brisk pace, and really, it has a little something for everyone. Car chases, gunfights, explosions, demons, nudity, gratuitous violence, and a good dose of comedy.
If you are looking for a movie where you can just sit back and be entertained, I can’t recommend this one enough.
Soooooooo much fun. I had a ball watching this movie. It’s completely insane and it doesn’t care. Just complete grindhouse abandon.
other god cage roles:
voice of doctor tanma in astroboy the animated mvoie
big daddy in kick ass
benjamin gates in the 2 natiol tresure movies

I thought Drive Angry was OK. NIc Cage films have actually been pretty good over the years it is just that he has had a string of duds like Bangkok Dangerous, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and The Wicker Man.
Although not horror two Nic Cage films that are good that have been overlooked/underrated are Seeking Justice and Stolen. I also liked Knowing that got some negative reviews.
Looking forward to see Nic Cage in Left Behind.
I need to go see if this is streaming on Netflix seems like something to waste a long night to (with a new baby I have lots of long nights…)
Also what’s with the title? When I saw the previews I thought this was a racer movie similar to Gone in 60 seconds not him litteraly him breaking out of hell (thought it was prison reference). If the title was more descriptive or maybe embraced the B movie/exploitation film like I dunno Grindhouse or Machete or Piranna 3D (which was a lot of fun) more would have seen it. Instead it was like hey it’s in 3D!!! We
Marketing blew it again. It was an awesome film that I think they wanted to mislead the public since they weren’t convinced it would sell as an action horror film with heavy exploitation roots.
They sure did. I usually don’t go out to movies anymore since the experience is shit (wish I had a Alamo Draft House near me) but when its a different type of movie I will go out and endure the nonsense to support it. If they would have said hey this guy broke out of Hell (not escaped from a Hell) and is looking for revenge and made it look like the old Grindhouse type trailers I would have been there to see it.
Ah Alamo Draft house. Booting out idiots for not understanding that people didn’t just pay $25 to listen to you on your cell phone.
Me and my wife have recently started going back to theaters and so far, we’ve had good luck. There was a time I swore off theaters because I was tired of people ruining it for me because they can’t shut up for 2 hours.

I’m not ignoring you. This was your post.

What am I supposed to respond to? Yes, those were some good Nic Cage movies.
He won’t be ignored Cecil….Hide your cat.
ROFL!
Instead of “incoherent ramblings” i’m starting to want a “Cecil Picks” or “Cecil recommends” so I can find these posts more easily when it’s time to fill up my netflix queue. =(
You know, that’s a good idea. So good I just did it!
Yay!

The marketing of “Drive Angry” seemed to make it into yet another lame Nic Cage action movie like “Gone in 60 Seconds” or “Ghost Rider,” so I was kinda surprised to see it on your site. So, I decided to give it a chance. OMG, what an incoherent mess! Yet, it perfectly fits in the good bad spectrum in movies. Thanks for a lot a fun.
