I had the same issue with the translator…however in the novelization, the author recognized this plot hole and it explained that Grig was taught some English phrases phonetically for Grig to use. I had always assumed that the translator had a ‘sphere of influence’…but I think the book had a more realistic theory/reasoning. Oh…microtrivia…every time we the kid in the red ’12’ shirt…that’s Wil Wheaton.

Yes! TAG is great but it never made it beyond VHS. Hoping for a better copy someday.
