A post apocalyptic film? Oh you know its gonna be a good video today. You gotta miss these types of films having some sort of number in their title. Bring you back to the good old days. Great video as always!
David Engelbach was my film professor at Savannah College Art and Design. According to him, the film was originally called “Thunder Women” but Cannon changed it because they said no one would see a movie with the word “Women” in the title. Originally there was to be a music video in the film (costing $350,000) but Golan & Globus refuse to spend it.
I love the cheesy intro cards. Sets the tone for the movie right off the bat and they’re blatantly telling the audience “Shh, don’t think too much, we sure didn’t. Just have fun.”
Bravo! This review is far better than the movie itself! It was a fun adventure filming in Israel, and there were great people involved. Thank you for your upbeat attitude, and for the kind words about AUTOMAN!
Thank you! I’ve always had a soft spot for these sorts of films, so its hard for me to come at them with any kind of malice. Glad to hear you had a good time making it, I know a lot of times filming in the desert can be rough on all involved.
Automan is classic! I’m bummed it didn’t go past 1 season. You played the title role perfectly.
All the best to you my good sir! I am planning on covering The Sisterhood later in the year, hope you enjoy that one as well.
Don’t sell yourself short; while not exactly high art, I found it a rather fun movie. In particular, I liked all the future slang and the idea of men and women each having to learn to embrace their former enemies in order to put an end to a literal war of the sexes. In fact, it seems to me the basic plot is solid enough that with a bigger budget and a little script doctoring, one could make a vastly improved remake that filled in the various plot holes and resolved the nitpicks; I’ve often thought most of the plot holes and other things one can nitpick were mostly just due to a few missing scenes and bits of dialogue that could easily be re-inserted into an updated version of this movie at minimal expense.

Thanks! I think Doomsday is the closest we will get to having modern production values mixed with an old school post apocalyptic script.
Well… that was an odd one. Like the intro; Fallout music?
Indeed! I needed music for the intro because the music from the movie didn’t fit. When in doubt, Fallout. 🙂
I love your reviews and i loughed my ass of to your Castlevania reference.
Thank you! 🙂

Exactly, it lets everyone know its supposed to be goofy.
