If you have a few minutes to spare, check out the trailer for this Friday the 13th fan film from my good friend The Cine-Masochist. It looks quite good!

“So what do we do now? Leave?
No Petar. You break out the booze and weed and have promiscuous sex. Duh!
Heh. 30 year old teenagers? Bad announcer puns? Death?
Yup. Sounds like a Jason movie! Just needs some gratuitous nudity! 😛
Hey! I’m 25 :p
Can’t be any worse than Jason 8. 😉
Actually it looks pretty good for a fan film. Watched a fan film on YouTube after seeing Cecils short and it wasn’t very good. Can’t remember the name of it though.
Is this an actual full fan film or is this just a mock trailer?
I amazed at how many people dislike 8! I loved 8! (except for the WTF ending)
This is a short film, which I just posted.
My main reason for hating part 8 was because the title and trailer were very misleading? Jason Goes To Manhattan, my ass. I had been a huge Jason fan and when I read in Fangoria that he was leaving Crystal Lake for the big city, my mind was alive with the endless possibilities. I saw the trailer and it amped me up even more. Then I watched the movie. Over an hour of Jason on a damn boat, followed by small glimpses of Jason in the Big Apple. Not was Jason in a single area once again, it was a thousand times smaller than Crystal Lake.
Hell, they showed the best parts (Jason looking at the hockey billboard, Jason scaring the guys on the street by raising his mask up) in the trailer. Then the ending. Jason turned into a kid with no deformities? What? Huh? In a perfect world, the series ended with part 7. Either that, or they actually made a Friday The 13th 8: Jason Takes Manhattan, in which they actually had the budget to put Jason in Manhattan for more than a few minutes.
This is more Paramount dickery. The series was suffering from lackluster sales, despite the fact that previous installments were good. Initially Paramount was looking to do something to boost the series and one of the writers thought a good way to rejuvenate the series would be to take it out of the campground. Originally they were calling it “Terror Time Square” but later settled on “Jason Takes Manhattan”. They even shot that awesome teaser trailer and excellent poster. (I (jason) NY)
The details are foggy but it went something like this. They got in trouble over the poster and Paramount just said “screw it” and cut the budget of the film. Production was already underway and now the director had to figure out ways to finish the film and keep it within the new budget. Essentially, he kept Jason on the boat since they couldn’t afford to film too many scenes in the city. (which ended up being Vancouver)
The movie did poorly and Paramount finally sold off their “dirty little moneymaker” to New Line. Even now they continue to show their disdain for the product as they release mediocre box set after mediocre box set of the series.
